Dressing For An Endless Summer

So, your far flung holiday plans have ground to a halt, and normal service has resumed on your Instagram stories until the next trip rolls around. But, as the UAE remains firmly in summer mode, what are we meant to wear now? The tropical prints and crochet from your vacation wardrobe are probably giving more ‘island girl’ than ‘Dubai girl’ so it’s time to take a softer approach to your summer style. Here’s just a few ways to see out the end of summer in style

Suits & Sets
A pants suit is the chic way to say ‘I mean business’ at the office, whilst simultaneously lending itself nicely to afterwork plans, plus, the cost per wear with mixing and matching is a no-brainer. By dipping into a color palette of dusty pink and warm peaches, you’ll softly hint at summer style rather than scream it. For an evening take on tailoring, embrace graphic prints and mixed pastels for a playful but sophisticated take on partywear.

Top-to-Toe Color
The first step to turning down the voltage on your high summer looks, is to swap out overly summery patterns (we’re looking at you, jungle palm prints and bright blooms) for a block color. Fuchsia pink and buttermilk yellow are a modern choice at the top of our list right now that still feel super seasonal. Look for feminine fits with voluminous sleeves or flare skirts to keep a playful pep in your step through the sunshine months.

Punchy Pastels
For a fresh take on color, we’re loving the new wave of punchy pastels as seen on the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2023. From sky blue and pistachio, to lavender and lemon, these saturated shades will work hard in your outfit rotations for the last push of high summer, but will also carry you through for the rest of the year. Keep accessories simple and shoes neutral to keep all eyes on the dress.

Chocolate & Vanilla Shades
If you’re more of a vanilla girl at heart, you’ll be glad to hear that neutrals are still a solid choice for this time of year (sidenote: is there any time of year they’re not?!). This beige linen dress will see you right through to autumn when we’ll be teaming it with suede knee boots, but for now, we’re loving wooden clogs and seventies-inspired accessories for a Jane Birkin-esque style tribute. If ever in doubt of what to wear in the heat, summer whites are always a safe bet. White shirt dresses, jeans, or relaxed tailoring will feel super fresh and clean for both day or night. We recommend investing in light linens, embroidery anglaise and structured cotton for breathable pieces that will beat the heat.

Cutting Shapes

Give your go-to silhouettes a 2023 update with some elevated cuts that are trickling in for next season. The dresses over jeans trend from the 2000s may give you the ick, but a cool new variation of the combination is back in a much chicer way. Stay with us on this one. Think longline, strapless tops loosely layered over matching pants for a sleek and modern result. And, this is one of few trends that is actually flattering for most body shapes too (tummies, hips and thighs are all covered with ease). Equally, asymmetric wrap skirts and voluminous puff sleeves continue to give a contemporary edge to feminine shapes if a more ladylike shape is your style.
